Then I realized the problem wasn\u2019t that I felt less. I simply didn\u2019t have the words to describe what was happening inside me.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That changed when I discovered psychologist Robert Plutchik\u2019s Emotion Wheel. His model suggests that we all experience eight core emotions, each existing on a spectrum of intensity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emotions also blend together, creating the complex experiences we navigate every day. Instead of simply saying, &#8220;I feel bad\u201d, we begin to recognize:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cI\u2019m disappointed.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cI\u2019m grieving.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cI\u2019m overwhelmed.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cI\u2019m uncertain.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That shift matters. Research has shown that putting words to our emotions can reduce their intensity and help us respond more thoughtfully instead of reacting automatically.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every emotion carries information. Fear may be trying to protect you. Anger may be pointing to a boundary that was crossed. Sadness may be asking you to slow down and process a loss. Your emotions aren\u2019t the problem. They\u2019re messengers. The goal isn\u2019t to get rid of them.
