It\u2019s Often Survival.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For years, I believed that being a good person meant putting everyone else first. I said yes when I wanted to say no. I gave more than I had, believing that if I loved people well enough, one day it would come back to me. Instead, I became exhausted, resentful, and disconnected from myself.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What I didn\u2019t understand then is that people-pleasing isn\u2019t simply kindness. It\u2019s often a survival strategy. When love, safety, or approval feels conditional in childhood, we learn to read the room, avoid conflict, and become who other people need us to be.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those patterns may have protected us then, but they often keep us stuck later in life. We lose touch with our own needs. We silently build resentment. And we wonder why we feel unseen, when we\u2019ve spent years showing the world only the version of ourselves we thought would be accepted.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even today, saying \u201cno\u201d doesn\u2019t always feel natural. Sometimes it still feels uncomfortable. But every time I choose a healthy boundary, I\u2019m reminding my nervous system that I no longer have to earn love by abandoning myself. I\u2019ve learned that real connection isn\u2019t built through over-giving. It\u2019s built through honesty, boundaries, and the belief that my needs matter too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So the next time your mouth says \u201cyes\u201d while your body says \u201cno,\u201d pause and ask yourself: <em><strong>Am I choosing this from love, or from the fear of disappointing someone?
